Hi all! Happy Monday. I hope your week is off to a good start. I am trying to kick my week off in fitness mode by hitting the gym on the regular, I finally got myself a membership in the neighborhood. I am a dork and have also been setting up Fitibit challenges to get my bones moving again. Do any of you have a Fitbit?
Anywho... I had a productive and fun-filled weekend. It was my first full weekend in the city since the move in December and the last thing I wanted to do was lay around, so my inner nerd decided to create a Google Map of all the places I have been meaning to go: various museums, a couple libraries, a bunch of murals/street art and restaurants up the whazoo that I hope to eventually try. I am all for making lists, so map making was right up my alley.
Saturday morning my friend Laurel and I headed over to Garfield Park Conservatory. It was so nice to get away from the dreary January weather, if only for an hour. The grey skies have been seriously getting to me, so it was a much needed mini staycation.
While there we were also able to check out the art installation - solarise: a sea of all colors, by Luftwerk - Chicago artists Petra Bachmaie and Sean Gallero. Above is the piece - Florescence.
Afterward we headed on over to the West Loop in search of a a fluffy green monster at Big Monster Toys. I came across the giant door housing the monster on Instagram months back and finally managed to track him down. He did not disappoint! Check out my instagram feed to see just how massive it really was.
After that we headed to Three Dots and a Dash, a cute - but absurdly busy tiki bar in River North and then called it a night. Sunday was spent brunching in Wicker Park and freelance work. Overall, it was a pretty great weekend getting back in to the swing of things. I plan to share more adventures from around the city soon - stay tuned!
Have a good day everyone. Stay warm!!
