Hi all! Long time, no talk. It's been almost a year to the day since my last blog post, and I have finally decided it is time to get back in the game. I miss the community that blogging provided, and with that I have really missed my old blogging buds. After accepting my job as a full time designer in fall of 2012 blogging began to feel like a chore. I no longer had the energy or drive to come home and share my day after staring at a screen for 8+ hours. Around the same time I accepted my job I went through a really rough breakup. I had never dealt with a feeling of loss on that scale before and I really wasn't sure how to cope. The last thing I wanted to do was sob on the internet about it. Instead I moved to the city, and worked on getting out there and meeting new people. I needed time to heal, and for me that meant ditching the blog world (even though I did come up with some half hearted posts along the way.)
Anywho, fast forward to today, I am finally ready to get back in to the swing of things. I wanted a fresh start, so I purchased a domain and switched from blogger to squarespace. I wanted something that would incorporate my new store The ShyShop. Those of you who have followed me from my old blogging days know that I have a bit of an obsession when it comes to thrifting, so naturally I decided to take that passion and share it with others. I am really excited to see where it takes me, and I hope you all enjoy the shop and my journey as well.
For those of you new and tuning in for the first time I thought I would start over and begin with a little introduction about myself and Shyscout.
Shyscout began after my graduation in December, 2011. I had been following blogs for awhile at that point and I thought it would be fun to give it a go and document my post-college life. The name Shyscout came from my room mate/college bestie. I told her that I wanted to give blogging a go but wasn't sure what to name it - off the top of her head Shyscout popped out - and it's stuck ever since. Thanks, Angela!
A little background about me: I am typically a quiet and shy individual (hence the blog name), especially when it comes to meeting people for the first time. My anxiety really hit a peak in college, but since then I have been able to better manage it, however, that is only a small part of who I am.
My name is Allison, and I am a twenty-six year old graphic designing toy collector, who enjoys retro fashion, dachshunds (and just about any other cute baby animal for that matter), thrifting, gardening, road-trips, zoodling and blogging to boot. Aaaand that's just the tip of the iceberg.
I hope to share more with you all down the line, and I am so excited to start this next chapter. I have so much to share! Please tune in tomorrow for a Toy Army post highlighting Dylan and I's new apartment, and all the kooky toys that live with us.
( P.S. A major thank you goes out to my boyfriend Dylan for taking these photos. If you think these photos are neat you should check out his work ;])
